23 January 2026 – BOOK TOUR - an afternoon talk delivered at the Ipswich Institute on Tavern Street. Chris delivered a presentation entitled ‘Badlands and Heathlands: The Deserts of Europe are Closer Than You Might Think…’ to an audience of 20 at this ‘mechanics institute’, an educational establishment with a lending library facilities providing adult education. Highlighting that several European Deserts can be found around the town of Ipswich, he showed images of the nearby Rushmere Heath and other sites of the ‘Sandling’ heaths of east Suffolk.
