The talk “Wildlife of the European Deserts” was presented to the Colchester Natural History Society on 9 March 2026. Expanding on the short introduction he had given a year earlier, Chris delivered a comprehensive exploration of the book’s central theme to a packed meeting at St James The Less & St Helens Church in Priory Street, Colchester. At the Society’s request, much of the talk focused on characteristic fauna of Europe’s deserts, including the Dartford warbler, adder, slow worm, and Nightjar, alongside common flora such as bracken, heather, and gorse. Once again, the talk generated considerable interest, with numerous questions and discussion points raised at its conclusion.
