10 February 2026 – BOOK TOUR - an afternoon talk on ‘European Deserts’ delivered at the invitation of the Ancient House in Thetford. A striking example of oak-framed Tudor architecture dating from the late 15th century, the Museum presents displays about rabbit warrens and flinting, both mentioned in the book. This small rural Norfolk market town is situated in the Breckland district, a European desert that is the focus of chapter seven ‘United Kingdom: Breckland – An Arid Desert in Verdant East Anglia’. An audience of about 25 people proved very receptive, and several interesting questions and points were raised in discussion during and after the presentation.
